Is your WhatsApp actually working for you?
WhatsApp is where most Kenyan customers already are. That makes it your busiest sales channel whether you planned it or not. The question is whether it's quietly winning business — or quietly leaking it. Answer these ten honestly. Count a 'no' as a leak.

The ten-question check
- 1Does every message get a reply within a few minutes, even after hours and on weekends?
- 2Can a customer get a price, stock and delivery answer without waiting for a person?
- 3Is every enquiry captured somewhere, so none is forgotten when it gets busy?
- 4Can a customer book, reserve or order without leaving the chat?
- 5Do payments and confirmations happen in the same conversation?
- 6If your key person is sick or on leave, does WhatsApp still work for the business?
- 7Do you know how many enquiries you get and how many turn into sales?
- 8Are repeat customers recognised, or does everyone start from scratch each time?
- 9Is there a clean handoff to a human for the questions that actually need one?
- 10Would a new staff member handle the inbox the same way as your best one?
How to read your score
- 8–10 yes — your WhatsApp is a system, not just an inbox. Focus on measuring and improving conversion.
- 4–7 yes — it works when someone's watching it, and leaks when they're not. Automating replies and capture will recover real sales.
- 0–3 yes — WhatsApp is a personal chat that happens to receive business. The upside from fixing it is usually the largest single opportunity in the business.
What 'working' looks like
A WhatsApp channel that works answers instantly and correctly, captures every lead, moves the conversation toward a sale, records what happened, and hands off to a person only when a person adds value. Nothing about that requires a bigger team — it requires the busywork to be automated so the team can do the parts only humans can.
If WhatsApp only works when your best person is watching it, it isn't working — it's waiting. Automate the predictable answers so no enquiry is ever lost to a slow reply.
